I and my sister have always wanted to go to Cuba and experience for ourselves the beauty of the country because since we were little girls we have always found the country very interesting and its culture very rich. Even though I was blind due to the pigment in my retina which blocked my sight, I was able to take care of my husband the best way I can and glad to have raised my two children; my school teachers when I was still young noticed that I could not do my schoolwork because I can hardly see, so they decided to enrol me in sight conservation classes. When I was learning how to become a telephone switchboard operator at the age twenty, I met a signal officer and then later on we got married; when we had our two children, I still had some light and form perception and using my sense of touch, I took care of my children and prepared them healthy meals and even bathe and dress them. Instead of thinking that my blindness is a big hindrance to me, I focus on the positive things that it can give me and my children; for example, because of my illness, they are moved to show more love and care for me and since they use their sense of sight in my behalf, they become keener and observant with the details about most things that people usually fail to notice. I worked hard to teach my children personal organization and good habits at their early age because their cooperation with the works I do at home is badly needed in order for me to properly care for the whole household; for instance, they know how to put their clothes in the same place where they got them so that I can easily find them on washday. I really did not know how to handle things when me and my wife will soon be having our baby and I was really scared but excited at the same.
